Led by GrapeHawk with the drone geophysical survey company Terremys, this project advances Harpia, a hybrid artificial intelligence planning system for agricultural drones, to deliver high-definition images for vineyard monitoring while keeping human intervention to a minimum. Built on an architecture developed in Rust, Harpia can temporarily pause a drone mission at constant altitude and command it to descend to capture new images at sub-centimetre resolution as soon as a potential pest is detected, before resuming its original mission. The system takes the terrain into account and takes constant measurements in flight to ensure precise navigation, including on sloping ground.
