Frequently asked questions
Can I combine several grants for the same project?
Often yes, but within ceilings. Public funding is generally limited to 50% of a project's budget, sometimes 60 or 80% depending on the scheme and the type of work. For a film production the ceiling is 50%, raised to 60% for a first film. And if you are a business, the European de minimis regime limits the total state aid you can receive to €300,000 over a rolling three-year period (ceiling raised from €200,000 to €300,000 by EU Regulation 2023/2831, in force since 2024). Each entry gives the funding rate when it is known.
I'm an artist-author, with no company or association. What am I entitled to?
Fewer things than an organisation, but they exist. In Strasbourg, the literary research and creation grants and the audiovisual concept grant. In Mulhouse, the C3 grant, one of the few schemes open to individuals and informal collectives. In Grand Est, the DRAC's individual creation grant and studio set-up allowance, as well as the Region's visual arts grants. At national level, grants from the CNL, CNAP, Adami and ADAGP. In Europe, Culture Moves Europe, which funds individual mobility without requiring an organisation or co-funding. Use the "You are" filter to see only those.
Do I need to be a member of accro to apply?
No. None of the schemes listed here requires membership of accro. Membership gives access to our support, not to the grants themselves.
Are the amounts shown guaranteed?
No. They are ceilings or ranges published by the organisations. The amount actually awarded depends on the application, the budget available and the decisions of the selection committees. Some organisations publish no amount at all, in which case the entry says so clearly.
A session has closed. Do I have to wait a year?
Not always. Many schemes have two or three sessions a year. Each entry gives the full timetable, not just the next date. And around thirty schemes are open all year round, including loans, guarantees and cross-border funds.
I am setting up a project with a German or Swiss partner. Can it be funded?
Yes, and it is probably the most under-used lever in the region. The Eurhena ACT fund remains the most accessible European scheme for a cross-border project, but its amounts and timetable are currently reported differently by different sources: check them directly with the Eurodistrict Eurhena before putting your application together. The PAMINA fund, in northern Alsace, funds projects of €5,000 to €65,000 at 60%, with fixed submission dates. The Region and the DRAC each have a cross-border cooperation scheme. One point to note: the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau has no micro-project fund for the 2021-2027 period, so you need to go through the neighbouring funds.
