Every November, Strasbourg devotes a whole week to creativity in organisations and places. The programme is called CreaSXB. It is led by BETA, the economics laboratory of the University of Strasbourg, and by MosaiC, the creativity and innovation hub of HEC Montréal.

One day, one theme, one venue. Round tables, talks, workshops, company visits, with speakers from all over. The week brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, executives, public sector players, creatives and students. accro has been involved since its very first year.

The origins of the partnership

The Autumn School was launched in 2010 by BETA and MosaiC. accro was founded four years later, in 2014. The match was obvious: on one side, an academic event seeking to reach the business world; on the other, a young association whose purpose is to bring creativity and business into dialogue. Patrick Llerena, who runs the School at BETA, sits on accro’s board.

From the 5th edition in 2014, the School has been co-organised by accro and BETA. In the following years, accro’s role grew: full logistics (2015), budget management and press relations (2016), co-production and co-facilitation of the 8th edition (2017), co-programming (2018) and overall coordination of the 10th edition in 2019, the high point of the partnership. That year, when asked “how did you hear about the Autumn School?”, 44% of participants answered: through accro.

2025: a first

The 16th edition, from 3 to 7 November 2025, took “Experimenting with creativity” as its theme. For the first time in its history, accro hosted the School on its own premises. The opening day, devoted to experimenting with creativity in the city, brought together 56 people around Patrick Cohendet and Pierre Balloffet (HEC Montréal), Anne-Marie Jean (City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg), Luc Sirois (Quebec’s Chief Innovator), Khaled Farah (accro), Patrick Llerena (University of Strasbourg) and others.
