Valuae box

Valuae, the first national network dedicated to buying back diamonds, with 250 partner jewellers, has teamed up with NSOFT Ingénierie to develop ValuaeBox, a robotic device for the remote appraisal of precious stones and jewellery. As diamond appraisal is costly in terms of staff and travel, the machine moves a stone along 6 axes of rotation in a controlled-light environment, under a camera and a magnifying lens. The image is transmitted live to an expert operator who assesses the stone remotely, using 5 degrees of freedom that reproduce the movements of a physical appraisal. A first mock-up has been built and has proved effective.
