× Partner Sound is More/ Hopitaux universitaire strasbourg (Yvan Freund et Coralie Diatkine et Jacques Eric Gottenberg)
Designed by the start-up InSimo with medical illustrator Yvan Freund and acoustic designer Coralie Diatkine (Sound Is More), together with the rheumatology department of the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg, Sim&Care is a hybrid augmented reality lumbar puncture simulator with force feedback. This common and stressful medical procedure is too often learnt directly on patients, with a risk of pain and complications. InSimo’s interactive biomechanical simulation realistically reproduces tissues, ligaments and bones: students handle a virtual needle and feel the resistance through a force-feedback interface, overlaid on a real person to build in the human support that is inseparable from learning the technical procedure.
