S'Glàs - Les bouteilles de vin d'Alsace se mettent aux verres
Led by Maya Thomas, founder of the S’Glàs glass workshop, in partnership with the mechanical and mechatronic innovation consultancy Innosophia (Renaud Uhl), the project aims to industrialise the transformation of used Alsace wine bottles into drinking glasses. With the current manual process reaching its limits in terms of profitability, S’Glàs turned to specialists in cold glass processing and to a manufacturer of robots used by crystal works to design a unique robotic cell, able to carry out some of the cutting and decoration operations according to the collection’s patterns. The aim is to combine the artistic gesture, which gives the bottle its soul, with a machine that serves the environment, giving a second life to bottles collected from restaurants.
