Parcours sensoriel en maison de retraite

Project lead Shore.OO (Marianne Franclet)
×
Partner Association Maison de retraite Saint-Joseph (Antoine Renaudin)

Led by the design studio shore.oo (Marianne Franclet and Claire Baldeck) with the association Des Racines et des Liens, which specialises in ecological edible gardens, the “Jardin d’Hiver” (“Winter Garden”) creates at the EHPAD Saint-Joseph care home in Nancy, home to 103 residents, a planted sensory space shaped through furniture, objects, signage and lighting. This intermediate space, accessible in all weathers between the bedrooms and the communal rooms, awakens the senses with a varied range of plants and fragrant species, and uses planted chicanes to make safe a sloping walkway that had until then been hazardous for wheelchair users. Residents and care staff were consulted in workshops on atmosphere, materials and circulation.
