Led by the biology PhD Rose-Marie Auclair (Woodlight) with the designer Aliénor Morvan, MUBI (Mobilier Urbain Bioluminescent Innovant, or innovative bioluminescent street furniture) involves creating smart plant-based street furniture that combines sustainable and recycled materials with a bioluminescent planting scheme. It serves three purposes: offering a distinctive, evolving design that signals a sustainable city; creating a green, depolluting island thanks to the ability of plants to capture CO2; and providing, through bioluminescence, a soft, diffuse light that reduces light pollution without using electricity. Conceived as an almost symbiotic association between furniture and plants, MUBI is intended to be installed in cities around the world.
