Mist Studio

Led by Matthieu Burtin and Morgan Grandjean (Mist Studio) with Dr Laetitia Goffinet of the CHRU de Nancy, Mist Studio designs a collection of therapeutic virtual reality games, including Winter Isles, which supports the care of children and teenagers with severe burns in paediatric units. Immersed in a specially designed imaginary world, far removed from any psychological reminder of the source of their pain, patients have their attention diverted from medical procedures, helping them manage pain and anxiety better and reduce medication; the app can even allow general anaesthesia to be replaced by local anaesthesia during a skin graft. Winter Isles has entered clinical trials at the CHRU de Nancy with the Laboratoire Lorrain de Psychologie et Neurosciences.
