The Malin furniture collection maps out the future of frugal yet desirable production, drawing on the craft and industrial strengths present in local areas. In the Côte d’Or, the Jacquenet-Malin factory has been turning local wood into tool handles since 1912; faced with competition from plastic, its collaboration with the designer Nicolas Verschaeve aims to diversify its production and showcase this rare craft through an affordable furniture range. The Malin set of coat stands and coat hooks repurposes standard shapes (a rake handle, a spade grip) into pieces for the home. The construction system also offers a fresh take on the stop joint, a tribute to rural common sense, making it possible to assemble shelves, tables and seats with no tool other than the hand.
