Since 1912, the Jacquenet-Malin factory has been turning wood from the Côte-d’Or into tool handles, a craft now facing competition from plastic and weakened by changing farming practices. The designer Nicolas Verschaeve proposes to diversify this production by reinterpreting the archetypes the workshop has shaped empirically over time: a rake handle or a spade grip thus becomes a coat hook, a shelf or a seat, assembled with no tool other than the hand, using a stop-joint principle inherited from rural life. Made on the existing production lines, the collection promotes the regional timber industry and a rare technical heritage, while opening up broad access to skills usually reserved for exceptional pieces.
