Led by Nancy-based designer Ophélie Benito with Alexis Cordier, co-incubated at Grand Nancy Innovation, Canopée is a mattress topper designed to combat insomnia and improve sleep by controlling its temperature in line with circadian cycles. It consists of a textile incorporating sensors and water circuits, a conditioning unit and a remote control. By slightly warming the skin, it helps users fall asleep up to 30% faster; by varying the temperature by 0.4°C, it can double the proportion of deep sleep; by warming at key moments of the night, it reduces night-time awakenings by 50 to 60%; and it makes waking easier by warming strongly at the best moment of a light sleep cycle. The device can be set up manually in under 5 minutes.
