Led by the start-up Arkeale, founded by Clément Carrato, in partnership with the collective of architects and designers Atelier NA, BioCapsule® is a micro-methanisation solution inspired by the natural digestive process of ruminants. It turns household and commercial food waste into renewable gas and organic fertiliser at neighbourhood scale. Atelier NA brings its expertise in urban planning and design to clad the capsule and integrate it into the urban landscape, favouring recyclable, local and bio-based materials. The partnership is aiming for a trial in 2024 followed by a successful urban roll-out in 2025, combining social impact with the economic development of the solution.
