Atelier NA
Project lead Atelier NA (Joachim BOYRIES)
× Partner Gris bois (Caroline Klein)
The project involves making two prototype light tables, one for young children and the other for older people, designed with the involvement of the Playgroup kindergarten and the Les Mélèzes care home in Strasbourg. Each table has a backlit translucent surface covered with fine sand: by moving the sand with a finger, the user reveals areas of light and can draw in negative. This sensory practice invites people to touch the drawing directly rather than use a tool, and allows several people to create together on the same surface. The tables, designed by the Atelier NA collective, were made by partner Gris Bois, a joinery company based in Strasbourg’s Rhine port.
